Serving the Capital District of NY
518-764-1660
.
.
Hello!
.
My name is Leo Quinn and I've lived in the Capital District since Nixon was President....that's almost 20,000 days.
.
That's one of the reasons this webpage looks like it was from the Nixon administration...I skew older.
.
I don't think bells and whistles and a fancy website are necessary to show you how I can help you.
.
For the last several years I've helped my parents and some aunts and uncles downsize.
>
Uncle Frank told me he wanted to sell his Firebird and needed someone to advertise it for him.

He'd handle the calls and meet the people but he didn't have the know-how to list things online.
.
That experience and selling things for my parents and other relatives showed me there was a need for a service like this in the Capital District.
.
A service that helps people turn their clutter into cash.
.
That's how Big Stuff Consignment was born.
.
A quick note: Because I've been around since the Johnson administration I don't have a lot of time to waste going through big collections of small things.
.
At this point I'm only interested in helping people sell or get rid of things that would make me a commission of at least $300...hence the name Big Stuff Consignment.
.
The BIG can be big in value and/or big in stature. Think iPhone 15 or 1967 Thunderbird.
.
We can work together in one of several ways.
.
Option #1 - The traditional CONSIGNMENT model.
.
I take possession of your item. Market it and hopefully get it sold. Once it sells, I give you your share of the proceeds and we're done.
.
If it doesn't sell I give it back.
.
This can be scary.
.
At this point I'm just some good l looking guy on the internet, who thinks he's funny, saying he wants to help you sell your stuff.
.
I could take your thing and you'd never see me again.
.
I know that's not going to happen but since this is a new business I don't have any feedback from people who aren't my family.
.
If you Google "Leo Quinn Graduation" you'll see me in a coat and tie speaking to a graduating class in 2023. That guy isn't going to steal your stuff!
.
Since 2014 I've given away thousands of dollars to people in the 518 via my "Find A Twenty" page on Facebook. That guy isn't going to steal your stuff.
.
Option #2 - MODIFIED CONSIGNMENT or the "Uncle Frank Model"
.
You keep the thing in your possession.
.
I come and take pictures and videos if appropriate.
.
I compose and post the ads.
.
You handle the inquiries from the potential buyers and deal with them when they show up to look at the item.
.
Once it sells, you send me my share of the proceeds and we're done.
.
This option requires a non-refundable $200 deposit.
.
Option #3 - The Hybrid of options #1 and #2
You keep the thing in your possession.
.
I come and take pictures and videos if appropriate.
.
I compose and post the ads.
.
I handle the inquiries from the potential buyers and deal with them when they show up to look at the item.
.
Once it sells, I give you your share of the proceeds and we're done.
.
This option requires a non-refundable $300 deposit.
.
I pay you today for your item and we are done.
.
You probably won't get as much as if you waited for a consignment sale but you'll have your money and have the thing gone.
.
Option #5 - "I Want It Gone Now"
.
You know it has value but don't want any money.
.
You're tired of looking at it and just want it gone.
.
.
If you have some unusual situation feel welcome to reach out and tell me what you have.
.
You can reach me by phone or text...I'm in Saratoga County...518-764-1660

.

..
I pay for referrals...
I'll pay $50 for any referrals that lead to business for me.
Who has that old car in the barn that hasn't run for decades?
Who last had their boat on the lake during the Reagan administration?
Who closed up their business and has a lot of fixtures, like cabinets, coolers, ovens, display cases etc?
Who bought a bunch of vending machines and never found a place to put them?
Send them my way.
Again phone and text is 518-764-1660 or email BigStuffConsignment@gmail.com
Frequently asked questions...
.
Why should I pay you to sell my thing when I can sell it myself?
.
You sound angry. You shouldn't pay me. Do it yourself or get a friend or relative to do it.
.
I'm here for people who don't have those options or don't want to use those options.
.
What if I don't live in the Capital District of NY? Can you still help me?
.
Maybe. It will have to be a hybrid of the 5 options but if you are game, we can discuss it.
.
What do you consider the Capital District of NY?
.
The counties of Saratoga, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Albany, Warren, Washington, Columbia & Montgomery.
.
I have 125,000 baseball, football & basketball cards. Is that "big" enough.
.
I'm almost 21,000 days old. I don't have the time or expertise to go through that many anything.
.
We could work together but only using option #2. Scroll up to review that.
.
Do you help with jewelry?
.
No. I know zero about how to tell fake from real.
.
I recommend taking them to one of those "we buy jewelry" places.
.
What about electronics?
.
Not likely, unless they are new in the box.
,
iPhones?
.
Maybe. This would have to be a REVERSE CONSIGNMENT deal.
.
They would have to be in very good condition.
.
Contact me with the model & gigs.
.
Not interested in Android phones.
.
Real Estate?
.
I couldn't help you sell your house other than take pictures for you.
.
If you want it gone ASAP and the price is right, I know a guy.
.
Pianos?
.
For $500 I will remove your piano from your house and discard it. 🙂
.
People can't give pianos away.
.
.
.
So unless Beethoven himself composed on your piano and you have a picture of that, I wouldn't be interested. 🙂
.
I am a regular buyer/collector of (cards, beer steins, Disney videos, model trains...whatever) can you let me know if you ever have any for sale or meet someone with some of those to sell?
.
Absolutely! Contact me with what you're looking for and I'll add you to the list!
.
I know a lot of people. How does that referral thing work?
.
Simple.
.
I ask everyone who I speak with how they heard about me.
.
If they say your name, you go on the list.
.
If we make a deal, as soon as their thing sells and I've been paid, you'll get your referral fee from me.
.
The referral fee is $50.
.
.
Have you ever thought of doing something like this for a fundraiser?
.
Oh come on, that's not a frequently asked question. OK...you got me.
.
But yes, I have thought of doing something like this for a fundraiser and here's how I THINK it might work.
.
I will put up a special page for each charitable group.
.
The page will be very similar to this one but the form at the bottom will only be for supporters of that charity.
.
For every deal I make with one of their supporters, the charity will immediately get $20.
.
If and when the item sells, the charity will get an additional $50.
.
If you are involved in a church or charity, please contact me and we can work out the specifics.
.
Who gets to choose which option we use...1,2,3,4 or 5?
.
Oh, good question! You get to choose but I reserve the right to refuse that option.
.
Let me explain.
.
Let's say you have a beautiful high-end dining room set.
.
You want to use the traditional consignment model (Option #1).
.
I can't do that one because I don't have the room to store your dining room set until it sells.
.
So I would only be willing to work with you using Options #2, 3, 4 or 5 in this example.
.
Why deposits on Options #2 and #3?
.
Another good question. You're on fire!
.
Those options require more work for me and there is also a chance that I get stiffed on my commission.
.
Not by you of course, but it does happen and I have to protect myself.
.
Let me explain.
.
If the client stays in possession of their item, I will be relying on them to respond to messages from me.
.
If I'm handling the inquiries and/or meeting the potential buyers at the clients location there will have to be a lot of communication between me and the client to answer questions and offers from potential buyers.
.
With Option #3, I'll have to schedule times to meet potential buyers at the client's location to look at the item.
.
If the client answers my questions quickly and it's easy to schedule viewing times, that's great.
.
But the potential also exists that I get ghosted by the client. (they never respond to my questions)
.
Why would a client who wants money for their thing ghost you?
.
Well, it could be any reason.
.
Maybe they told a friend they were selling the thing and the friend wanted to buy it.
.
Suddenly, the client isn't as excited about paying my commission.
.
Maybe a dispute over wanting to sell the thing develops with a friend or relative of theirs.
.
Maybe they changed their mind about selling.
.
In all of these examples, I've already spent valuable time meeting the client, taking pictures and videos of their items, composing and posting the ads.
.
You like to get paid for the work you do and so do I.
.
